Patients who have suffered medical negligence often face a combination of physical, emotional, financial, and legal challenges. These difficulties can continue long after the original medical error itself. One of the obstacles for patients whose first language is not English, is to understand the NHS system, their rights and when how to raise complaints or issues. We are finding through our work that access to justice and getting patient voices heard effectively by the health system remains a challenge. There is an urgent need in West London for the health system to work in partnership to develop effective routes for voices to be heard and acted upon.
